About Ruth
About Ruth
Ruth started her professional career in the Far East, where she designed for the High Street market for the UK, Sweden and Germany. Meanwhile she was also establishing her name in the UK as a high-end designer with her one-off celebrity commissions, which developed into her own label, Herring. She sold exclusive collections of luxury hand knitwear to Browns, Harrods and to the newly established Favourbrook label, which was the brainchild of British designer Oliver Spencer. Ruth has also worked closely with Ollie, organising photo sessions and styling his publicity shots and catalogues and he remains a good friend.

Ruth’s ability to blend fashion design with traditional crafts like knit, crochet, embroidery and macramé stems from her enormous technical knowledge in these areas. The revival of these skills in the fashion markets has recently seen Ruth exploring other areas such as knitted and crocheted jewellery and accessories, developing ideas using leather, wire and beads along with more commonly used materials. These ideas have just been produced in book form for sale worldwide.
